Seasonal Decor & Plants

  • OUR MOST POPULAR WORKSHOP! Our super-popular Evergreen Wreath Workshop is back! Join us to make a lovely 16-18" outdoor wreath on a metal frame (which you will not see when we're done). We offer an abundance of fresh evergreen snipets such as boxwood, oregonia (variegated boxwood), pine, various cedars and silver fir along with accents such as pinecones, blueberry cedar and rosehips. Participants will travel along this Evergreen Buffet to gather up "bundles" that our design team will help you "crimp" onto the frame. The result is a sturdy, lush, fragrant deluxe wreath that will last until about March on your door! This is a wreath for outdoor use; it uses the cold moisture in the air to maintain freshness.  Positioned between two glass doors is not an adequate location to hang it; it is best fully exposed to the cold.

  • Workshop: Winter Sleigh-Ride

    Price range: $55.00 through $70.00
Some Folks Come Every Year!  Our popular "Winter Sleigh Ride" Workshop will be offered for those who already have the wooden sleigh and wish to "re-green it" and for those who are new to this project. Come one, come all! The natural wood sleigh (about 30" long) is a sturdy construction. Participants will strap on a foam block and 'green it up" with fresh boxwood, pine, cedar and silver fir evergreen snipets. A bow (lots of colour/design choices) and accents decorate it to your personal style. You will have access to our extensive accent buffet to make your personal decor choices. This is an outdoor project; it can not remain indoors for more than 1-2 days (greens will dry out). The string allows it to be hung or it can lean against the wall/fence. All materials are included for new participants. Those returning who have the wooden sleigh from one of our previous workshops (see notes below) can bring it to re-do and pay a lower price for this experience.

  • Here’s a Twist!  We’ve fully changed-up design of our Light Up The Night Workshop this year (see “Light Up The Night 2026” option) but we wondered if all you folks who have the WOODEN LANTERN FROM A PREVIOUS GRIFFIN’S WORKSHOP would like to bring it along for a re-do? In this workshop we’ll provide a fresh plastic saucer bottom (for either style as they switched a few years ago) and floral foam plus we’ll instruct you in designing a lovely mixed evergreen arrangement that will sit in the base of your lantern.  We’ll provide lots of lovely accents to decorate your arrangement, just like the OG Lantern Workshop from years gone-by. If your battery operated candle is in good shape still, bring it along to use as one is not included in this reduced fee workshop.  We WILL have extras to purchase at $15.00 each if you require a new one (payable at the end of the workshop, at our cash station).

  • This is a workshop where you learn the techniques to create a fresh, different style of outdoor Winter planter: tree-top style. Participants will use a simple black pot (12" diametre) and pop in a 2-3 foot real evergreen tree (cut, not rooted) as the focal point.  Then, layers of fresh evergreen boughs are added to the base of the planter to create a "skirt" that is lush and fragrant. To get more of a drape, deluxe greens like Silver Fir and BC Cedar are part of the offering, along with the freshly cut local greens. Natural accents such as dogwood, pinecones and magnolia leaves are offered along with items from our "Accent Buffet" to create your own, unique masterpiece. Note:  this planter can be stand-alone or pop inside another, decorative pot (fits standard urns too).  In this workshop you will make ONE planter; if you require a second one, our staff can gather up the materials for you to make another at home or why not register a friend to work alongside you?

Back by popular demand!  Winter Gnomes continue to be popular as fun outdoor decor. Using a metal frame, participants will create bundles of fresh evergreens that will attach to the frame, covering the body of the gnome.  Layers and layers of evergreens will create a full body (no thin gnomes in this workshop!).  A beard will be attached, using Silver Fir, and then his hat, nose and mittens will be affixed.  Give your gnome a name before you leave - we'll help you come up with something clever!
  • We've added an opportunity to go back to basics and create a traditional outdoor evergreen arrangement in either a 12" round, fibre planter (works as an urn insert or stand-alone pot), 24" fibre window box /rectangular planter or 12" fibre hanging basket. Using a selection of fresh evergreens, participants will fill the planter of their choice (to choose upon arrival or make notation in NOTES section) with layers and layers for optimum fullness.  Natural accents such as sedum, hydrangeas and pine cones will be offered, along with a visit to the "Accent Buffet" to choose up to 5 additional accents to make your arrangement truly unique and spectacular.

  • The Grinch is back!  Attending this super popular workshop is tradition for many of you!  We're happy to be back "grinching" it up with you again this year. This is a family friendly workshop, great for all ages, but most-enjoyed by ages 7/8-adult. Using a lovely 6" round tin container and fresh floral foam, participants will twist up a branch of "leyland cypress" or "carolina sapphire" so it bends like the last tree in a Who-ville home once the Grinch got his greedy hands on all of the goodies.  Fresh evergreen boughs (boxwood, pine and cedar) will be added at the base, along with light fresh flowers and a final touch of an ornament on the tip of the main branch.  Lots of colour choices will be offered. Whimsical and fun for the holidays! Photo is of a Grinch project from a previous year; 2026 project will feature a red tin pot.

NEW for 2025! This is an indoor potted plant workshop for folks who value houseplants they can grow on after the holidays. In a large 16” long rectangular natural wooden planter (with plastic liner), participants will plant seven seasonal bloomers. Choices will include: cyclamen, poinsettia, lemon cypress, winter berry, calandivia and frosty fern. Amid the arrangement will be a moss nest to sit a waxed amaryllis which will bloom in time for the holidays (fingers crossed, bloom timing is tricky). The final touch will be accents to finish the project to your personalized style, leaning a little to a country chic theme, with pinecones, natural pods and grapevine twists. Colour choices will be offered:  white or red blooming amaryllis and then multiple colours of blooming seasonal plants.  The sample photo is only one version. You will make your arrangement one-of-a-kind! NOTE as of November 29:  We have changed the time of the November 30 session to 1 pm (instead of 10 am), due to forecasted snow in the morning.  Let's all be safe!
  • Let's design a personalized evergreen wreath in a new, creative way! You will use a fluffy pre-made evergreen wreath as the base to embellish with snipets of deluxe evergreens such as silver fir, western cedar, boxwood and arborvitae plus magnolia leaves, pinecones, berries (real and faux) and a bow.  As this method of wreath making is done with paddle wire we can accommodate more participants in each session (18) - don't worry, lots of staff will be available to help you create a masterpiece!  This wreath is best as Outdoor Decor so it can fully hydrate in the cool, Winter air. The photo is illustrating an option, yours might be very different when complete - that's part of the fun!

A NEW Two Piece Creation!  The choice of container will be a rustic wooden crate (13x18x9H, natural tone) that participants fill with freshly cut mixed evergreens and accent with natural elements such as sedum, hydrangea and dogwood.  A trip to the "Accent Buffet" will allow participants to choose three additional accents for personalization. Next, participants will design a door swag to match!  The same evergreens and accents will be used, arranged in a fan fashion and all tied with a beautiful bow.  The two pieces can be used separately or as a combo at the front door. Please allow 2.25 hours for this multiple project workshop.

NEW PROJECT!  Sunday December 07, 3:00 p.m. or Friday December 12, 10:00 a.m. All that glitters is gold!  A golden, round metal tray with four raised tealight stands is the elegant base for this indoor tabletop arrangement.  In the middle of the tealight stands will be a small gold-toned pot that will be filled with fresh floral foam for participants to design with mixed evergreens that will arch out amongst and between the tealight stands. Gold tipped pinecones, light florals and other accents will complete the project.  Tealights will be included. This has become a popular Workshop!  On October 29, we added a new session:  Fri. Dec 12., 10:00 a.m.
  • Sunday November 08, 10:00 a.m. A simple, tall, square plastic black pot (16”) will be filled full using a 3 foot cut evergreen top resembling a wee Christmas Tree (you can add lights to it when you get home), quality mixed evergreens (pine, BC Silver Fir and Cedar), magnolia, dried hydrangeas, one super-sized pine cone and metal stake to hang our new LED old-school lantern to guide friends and family to your porch. Sunday December 14, 1:00 p.m. We introduced this unique rectangular, metal container last year in green (to private sessions only) and this year we offer it in a rusty retro red and gold colour pallet. It is a beautiful container! Into the floral foam that sits firmly in the pot, participants will design with fresh mixed evergreens, including deluxe varieties like boxwood and arborvitae. Saturday March 14, 1:00 p.m.  We will offer an assortment of three wood/metal designs as the planter of this value-priced workshop.  Petite, these planters are perfect to sit on indoor side tables or kitchen islands, transferring to outdoor use on a small patio table, if you wish, for warmer days. Spring plant choices to fill each pot will include pre-sprouted bulbs, such as tulips, mini daffodils and hyacinths, small houseplants, ferns, ivy and accents such as pussy willows and moss. With registration, one wood and metal planter is included in the price of this workshop. You will choose your planter shape upon arrival; there will be lots of each choice. If you wish to create additional planters, you may pay $30.00 per (all materials included) during the workshop session. As always, care, advice and education will be discussed as the group works alongside your host, Vikki and the Design Team.

This is an indoor potted plant workshop for folks who value houseplants they can grow on after the holidays. In an 8” natural toned tin planter (with protective liner) participants will plant five seasonal bloomers. Choices will include: cyclamen, poinsettia, lemon cypress, lavender, rosemary, fluffy ferns, ivy, winter berry, calandivia and seasonal frosty fern. Accents to finish the project will be a wooden tree stake, a metal deer pick, birch and pine cones. Au Natural!
  • NEW Project for 2026! This is a fun alternative to an evergreen hanging basket!  You will create a very unique hanging arrangement with a 14” foldable metal globe (with hanging chain) that will have a apparatus attached to the saucer allowing high quality mixed evergreens to be added, along with colourful natural accents. In the middle of all will be a battery operated RAINLITE candle that performs well (with a timer) in outdoor conditions – great value!  This is an OUTDOOR project. We suggest that this arrangement will best hang in a sheltered space, like under a covered porch or awning.  With the RAINLIGHT candle it can be exposed to elements, but it's not advised for it to be continually covered in snow, for your best enjoyment.  Bonus:  with the evergreens removed, this whole unit will look amazing in the Summer too! A better photo to come soon, when all materials are in-stock.

In the theme of Spring participants will fill these two tin planters (one is a watering can, the other an oval) with a selection of pre-sprouted bulbs such as tulips, daffodils or hyacinths, small ferns and houseplants along with accents of pussy willows and moss.  These planters are for indoor decor now, but could be redesigned for outdoor use once the weather warms up. As always, care, advice and education will be discussed as the group works alongside your host, Vikki and the Design Team.
