In this informative seminar, you will listen and learn with Vikki and Jennifer, who is Master Gardener Certified and passionate about Native Plants.  Details will focus on the benefits of Native Plant gardening and ways to integrate them into your current landscape.  To incorporate native perennials into your garden you don't need to 'rip everything out"!  Moderation is the key (to all in life, really) and they will demonstrate ways this can be done in a beautiful and environmentally respectful way.  An informative handout will be offered; you are encouraged to take additional notes. Specific plant species will be highlighted (the faves); wide varieties will be in stock for a "show and tell".  Opportunities for specific questions will be offered at the end of the presentation. Seating is limited, so the $10.00 fee ensures your space in this popular session. Customer Cardholders will be reimbursed the fee in points, which they can spend at any time.

Sunday December 14, 1:00 p.m. We introduced this unique rectangular, metal container last year in green (to private sessions only) and this year we offer it in a rusty retro red and gold colour pallet. It is a beautiful container! Into the floral foam that sits firmly in the pot, participants will design with fresh mixed evergreens, including deluxe varieties like boxwood and arborvitae. To accent, pinecones, berries and light florals will be added, making it an elegant table arrangement. We have only containers available for one session, so don’t miss out!
  • SunSeeker Sensation, $25.00 PRE-BOOK PRICE Introduced to the horticultural market just last year, this beautiful perennial, "Sunseekers Sweet Fuchsia", is in high demand!  Maple Leaf Nurseries in Vineland, Ontario, is growing 50 units for pre-book only.  The double and triple layers of fuchsia coloured bloom petals almost look like a zinnia and will be a standout in your sunny gardens.  A short, compact plant that blooms for a long time, it will be a great addition to your garden design. One-gallon pot, Ontario zone 4 perennial.  Prebook Pick-Up:  June 11, 12, 13, 14 only
  • Spring Bulb Beauty, $50.00 This lovely indoor/outdoor arrangement will consist of a shallow, colourful 12” plastic planter filled with pre-sprouted Spring bulbs.  The budded tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and crocus will be poised to bloom within days at your home.  Prior to your pick up, our staff will stylise it with decorative moss, fuzzy pussy willows and a high-quality glazed ceramic bird or butterfly décor stake.  This is an upgraded twist on a Spring favourite, and only these 50 units will be available, dressed in this fancy way! Full pic of the "dressed up version" coming soon. This arrangement is cold-tolerant to be an outdoor Easter urn insert or can be perfect as an indoor arrangement – you decide!  Prebook Pick-Up:  April 01, 02, 03, 04 only.
  • Necessary Native Perennial, $20.00 Our native plant grower Tim, owner of Hofland Gardens in Brighton, is adamant that every garden should have Asclepias Tuberosa (Butterfly Weed) somewhere in the design – and we agree!  Not a new plant, but a solid performer showing off bright orange clusters of blooms throughout June and July and providing a host to Monarch butterfly caterpillars. We often can’t order in enough of this plant, so it’s a bonus to have so many available in this prebook. One-gallon pot, Ontario zone 3, sun-loving perennial. Prebook Pick-Up:  June 04, 05, 06, 07 only
  • Big Boston Ferns, $55.00 Last year, we sourced large 12” hanging pots of fluffy Boston Ferns from a southern grower. This year, we wished to find a Canadian grower – and we did!  Arriving as nicely grown plants in generous 12” hanging pots (a standard fern is usually in 9-10” pots, limiting its growth potential), these big beauties will be perfect on your porch all Summer, getting HUGE by the Fall.  Prebook Pick-Up:  May 07, 08, 09, 10 only
  • Big Bay Laurel, $40.00 What a find! Bay Laurel Plants (a herb that is used in cooking) are such a difficult-to-find plant for us to source, and we did it!  AND the specimens we secured are BIG!  Presenting in 7” pots, these herbs will be usable early in the season, and the aromatic leaves will keep producing all Summer.  It is best to grow in a planter so you can bring this beauty indoors for Winter, keeping it for many years to come.  Bay Laurel grows slowly, hence its elusiveness, and finding ones larger than wee ones in 4” pots is rare.  Prebook Pick-Up:  May 01, 02, 03, 04 only.

This is a workshop where you learn the techniques to create a fresh, new style of outdoor Winter planter: tree-top style. Participants will use a simple black pot (12" diametre) and pop in a 2-3 foot real evergreen tree (cut, not rooted) as the focal point.  Then, layers of fresh evergreen boughs are added to the base of the planter to create a "skirt" that is lush and fragrant. Natural accents such as dogwood, pinecones and magnolia leaves are offered along with items from our "Accent Buffet" to create your own, unique masterpiece. Note:  this planter can be stand-alone or pop inside another, decorative pot (fits standard urns too).  In this workshop you will make ONE planter; if you require a second one, our staff can gather up the materials for you to make another at home or why not register a friend to work alongside you?
