In this informative seminar, you will listen and learn with Vikki and Jennifer, who is Master Gardener Certified and passionate about Native Plants. Details will focus on the benefits of Native Plant gardening and ways to integrate them into your current landscape. To incorporate native perennials into your garden you don't need to 'rip everything out"! Moderation is the key (to all in life, really) and they will demonstrate ways this can be done in a beautiful and environmentally respectful way. An informative handout will be offered; you are encouraged to take additional notes. Specific plant species will be highlighted (the faves); wide varieties will be in stock for a "show and tell". Opportunities for specific questions will be offered at the end of the presentation. Seating is limited, so the $10.00 fee ensures your space in this popular session. In this informative seminar, you will listen and learn with Vikki and Jennifer, who are Master Gardener Certified. Details will focus on the varieties of trees and shrubs that need to be pruned (specifically varieties to prune in Spring), when to do so, and how to do so. A brief discussion on rose pruning will also be included. A hand-out will be provided; taking additional notes is recommended. After a discussion of basics, the group will walk from the seated area to a few locations in our Display Garden (just steps away) where Jennifer will demonstrate the actions of pruning on species currently growing and in need of Spring pruning. Opportunities for specific questions will be offered at the end of the presentation. Seating is limited; the $10.00 fee ensures your space in this sure-to-be popular session. This is a workshop where you learn the techniques to create a fresh, new style of outdoor Winter planter: tree-top style. Participants will use a simple black pot (12" diametre) and pop in a 2-3 foot real evergreen tree (cut, not rooted) as the focal point. Then, layers of fresh evergreen boughs are added to the base of the planter to create a "skirt" that is lush and fragrant. Natural accents such as dogwood, pinecones and magnolia leaves are offered along with items from our "Accent Buffet" to create your own, unique masterpiece. Note: this planter can be stand-alone or pop inside another, decorative pot (fits standard urns too). In this workshop you will make ONE planter; if you require a second one, our staff can gather up the materials for you to make another at home or why not register a friend to work alongside you? -

A kid’s workshop for our friends aged 3-12. This year's ceramic planter has a colourful scene on it's exterior: foxes, birds and winter wildlife. It will be filled with snipets of mixed evergreens so it resembles a hideaway you’d happen upon deep in the forest. Dogwood, pinecones, light floral accents and a woodland animal friend will complete the project. This arrangement is to remain indoors and, by keeping the floral foam moist, will last over a month! Back by popular demand! Winter Gnomes continue to be super-popular as outdoor decor. Using a metal frame, participants will create bundles of fresh evergreens that will attach to the frame, covering the body of the gnome. Layers and layers of evergreens will create a full body (no thin gnomes in this workshop!). A beard will be attached, using Silver Fir, and then his hat, nose and mittens will be affixed. Give your gnome a name before you leave - we'll help you come up with something clever! -

We've added an opportunity to go back to basics and create an outdoor evergreen arrangement in either a 12" round, fibre planter (works as an urn insert or stand-alone pot), 24" fibre window box /rectangular planter or 12" fibre hanging basket. Using a selection of fresh evergreens, participants will fill the planter of their choice (to choose upon arrival or make notation in NOTES section) with layers and layers for optimum fullness. Natural accents such as sedum, hydrangeas and pine cones will be offered, along with a visit to the "Accent Buffet" to choose up to 5 additional accents to make your arrangement truly unique and spectacular. -

NEW LANTERN DESIGN FOR 2024! Our popular workshop is back, with a slight variation: a new lantern design! This year the wooden lantern is hexagonal in shape, 16" (same size as 2023 version) and will be offered in ivory only. It's a nice, new design! Whether you are a returning participant, with last year's style to re-do, or a new participant who will receive the new style of lantern, all will be have furniture safe floral dish sitting on the base of the lantern (with fresh floral foam). It will be filled with a fragrant mixed evergreens, pine cones and light floral accents. The greenery will spill out of the sides of the lantern and gently lay on the table around it. To light up the unit, a beautiful battery-operated LUXE candle will be added. All materials are included. If you are bring your lantern from the 2023 workshop, please choose the BYOL (Bring Your Own Lantern) registration under each date. The photo is of the 2023 lantern and does not show fresh flowers; a nice selection of long-lasting, light flowers will be offered as additional accents. It's back! Our popular "Winter Sleigh Ride" Workshop will be offered for those who already have the wooden sleigh and wish to "re-green it" and for those who are new to this project. Come one, come all! NEW DATE ADDED: Saturday November 30, 1:00 p.m. The wooden sleigh (about 30" long) is a sturdy construction and colour choices are natural and painted red and black. Participants will strap on a foam block and 'green it up" with boxwood, pine, cedar and silver fir evergreen snipets. A bow and accents decorate it to your personal style. This is an outdoor project; it can not remain indoors for more than 1-2 days (greens will dry out). The string allows it to be hung or it can lean against the wall/fence. All materials are included for new participants. Those returning who have the wooden sleigh from one of our previous workshops (see notes below) can bring it to re-do and pay a lower price for this experience. -

OUR MOST POPULAR WORKSHOP! Our super-popular Evergreen Wreath Workshop is back! Join us to make a lovely 16-18" outdoor wreath on a metal frame (which you will not see when we're done). We offer an abundance of fresh evergreen snipets such as boxwood, oregonia (variegated boxwood), pine, various cedars and silver fir along with accents such as pinecones, blueberry cedar and rosehips. Participants will travel along this Evergreen Buffet to gather up "bundles" that our design team will help you "crimp" onto the frame. The result is a sturdy, lush, fragrant deluxe wreath that will last until about March on your door! This is a wreath for outdoor use. NEW for 2024: accent add-ons will be available for purchase: magnolia leaves, bows, bottle-brush trees, metal accents and more. Add-on costs can be paid at the end of the workshop. UPDATE: Two new sessions have been added as of November 13! -
