FLOWERS AFTER HOURS: Harvest Table Top Planter Thursday October 01, 6:00 p.m. $60.00 + HST Join us for a unique opportunity to socialize and learn, all while creating a lovely planting project for your home. We'll begin the evening with time for after-hours shopping in the store, while sipping on a weekly signature mocktail and munching on a charcuterie cup from "The Cheesy Fromage". At 6:30 p.m. we'll begin our project in the dedicated workshop space in our climate controlled greenhouse environment. Our project this week is to create a Fall planter for your indoor dining/side table or kitchen island. Our container will be a plastic lined wooden, rectangular planter filled with appropriate container soil. Vikki, your host, introduce the plant choices, such as: indoor mums, heather, anthurium, interesting houseplants, ivy and fluffy fillers. You will choose your favourite five to six plants and design your planter with them, adding in moss to hide the soil and a few fun Fall decor picks such as faux pumpkins and wheat. All materials are included. -

Friday March 13, 1:00 p.m. Bring a friend or student who is off on this Friday PD Day to our fun workshop where two projects are made. This workshop is appropriate for anyone 5-99 years old! Only you? No problem, you can do both projects and we can help if you require assistance. In the theme of Spring participants will fill these two tin planters (one is a watering can, the other an oval) with a selection of pre-sprouted bulbs such as tulips, daffodils or hyacinths, small ferns and houseplants along with accents of pussy willows and moss. These planters are for indoor decor now, but could be redesigned for outdoor use once the weather warms up. As always, care, advice and education will be discussed as the group works alongside your host, Vikki and the Design Team. -

You will choose your favourite five succulents and design your planter with them, adding in moss to hide the soil and Fall decor picks and/or light Autumn-inspired dried flower accents. Discussion will centre around after-care and future succulent success. All materials are included. -

Spring Amaryllis Joy Workshop Saturday March 16th, 10:00 a.m. So this is new…waxed Amaryllis for Spring! In Spring coloured wax (pink, mauve, yellow) the pre-sprouted stem will open to a white or pink blooming Amarylis, usually within the month of being exposed to light and warmth. What a joy to watch Amaryllis blooms open in the Spring-time! The container for this design will be a 8” wicker “nest” and will include three foliage or blooming plants, along with your choice of high-value, pre-sprouted waxed Amaryllis. Decorative mosses (to nestle the waxed Amaryllis), pussy willows and curly willow and a cute bird will complete the project. This will be a beautiful, long-lasting arrangement for your kitchen island or table. To register for this Workshop, a $20.00 + HST non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot. Fall Festival: A Beautiful Porch Pot Saturday September 12th, 10:00 a.m. $80.00 + HST It’s time to change your porch pot for the season! Participants will use a simple, square, black classic pot filled with fresh potting soil and design a beautiful arrangement using 7-8 Fall-inspired annuals. Choices will be plentiful and include: ornamental grasses, rudbeckia, mums, asters, ornamental kale/cabbage, ivy, croton, celosia, sedum and more. To create a planter that is truly unique, a variety of accents will be offered. This is larger than an urn insert size; square pot is approximately 15-16" in diametre ensuring a lovely large Fall planter. All materials are included. A new design! In this workshop participants will make two moss kokedama balls with pre-sprouted mini daffodils, jute string, curly willow and other decorative and dried flower accompaniments. Each moss ball will sit on a simple clay saucer. They can be displayed together, or separately in your home. If you get excited and wish to make more, time allows for additional kokedama balls to be made in the workshop for $22.00 each, payable at the end of the session. While one of these sessions will be held during March school break, it is not recommended for young children. Appropriate ages for this workshop are 10-99 years. This is an indoor potted plant workshop for folks who value houseplants they can grow on after the holidays. In an 8” natural toned tin planter (with protective liner) participants will plant five seasonal bloomers. Choices will include: cyclamen, poinsettia, lemon cypress, lavender, rosemary, fluffy ferns, ivy, winter berry, calandivia and seasonal frosty fern. A pretty 6” champagne coloured glass vessel will be the beautiful container for this tabletop boxwood tree. A basic tree shape will materialize as participants add green and variegated boxwood to the fresh floral foam base secured in the glass pot. Once “greened up”, pinecones and small accents will decorate the tree, to personalize it. We will include choices to make your tree natural or sparkly - or a combo of both styles! The overall height for this arrangement will be approximately 18” and it is a great option for someone who doesn't wish a large tree in house and needs just a small tabletop tree for the season. Watered well, this arrangement can last 6-8 weeks, looking fresh and lovely. -

Saturday March 14, 1:00 p.m. We will offer an assortment of three wood/metal designs as the planter of this value-priced workshop. Petite, these planters are perfect to sit on indoor side tables or kitchen islands, transferring to outdoor use on a small patio table, if you wish, for warmer days. Spring plant choices to fill each pot will include pre-sprouted bulbs, such as tulips, mini daffodils and hyacinths, small houseplants, ferns, ivy and accents such as pussy willows and moss. With registration, one wood and metal planter is included in the price of this workshop. You will choose your planter shape upon arrival; there will be lots of each choice. If you wish to create additional planters, you may pay $30.00 per (all materials included) during the workshop session. Let’s keep it simple with a crisp pallet of white and green in this DIY Kit. The oval white tin pot is 12" in length, with a plastic liner; the instructions will guide you in adding in a block of fresh floral foam, mixed evergreens (pine, boxwood and BC cedar). The feature of this pretty indoor table arrangement will be the white-wash tree stake (echoing the tree on front of the pot), which you can add to the middle or side placement. Accents will include white faux berries and natural pinecones. The instructions will guide you on how to care for this arrangement so it lasts well into January. Close to the holiday you can add in some light fresh flowers (not included) if you wish to make it more floral for your entertaining needs. We will provide you suggestions and ways to do this. In this informative seminar, you will listen and learn with Vikki and Jennifer, who is Master Gardener Certified and passionate about Native Plants. Details will focus on the benefits of Native Plant gardening and ways to integrate them into your current landscape. To incorporate native perennials into your garden you don't need to 'rip everything out"! Moderation is the key (to all in life, really) and they will demonstrate ways this can be done in a beautiful and environmentally respectful way. An informative handout will be offered; you are encouraged to take additional notes. Specific plant species will be highlighted (the faves); wide varieties will be in stock for a "show and tell". Sunday December 14, 1:00 p.m. We introduced this unique rectangular, metal container last year in green (to private sessions only) and this year we offer it in a rusty retro red and gold colour pallet. It is a beautiful container! Into the floral foam that sits firmly in the pot, participants will design with fresh mixed evergreens, including deluxe varieties like boxwood and arborvitae. To accent, pinecones, berries and light florals will be added, making it an elegant table arrangement. We have only containers available for one session, so don’t miss out! -

Big Bay Laurel, $40.00 What a find! Bay Laurel Plants (a herb that is used in cooking) are such a difficult-to-find plant for us to source, and we did it! AND the specimens we secured are BIG! Presenting in 7” pots, these herbs will be usable early in the season, and the aromatic leaves will keep producing all Summer. It is best to grow in a planter so you can bring this beauty indoors for Winter, keeping it for many years to come.
