NEW! Gingerbread Duo has only one session and will be held on Sunday December 14, 3:00 p.m. This new workshop is perfect for an adult and child/teen (ages 6+ recommended) to do together. Two containers will be designed: a larger (14”) oval gingerbread themed tin pot and a smaller (6”) gingerbread pot. How fun! This indoor table centrepiece project will feature the fragrance of fresh evergreens and light florals, not sugar and spice - but will still be nice! Accents for both pots will include natural pinecones, dogwoods and playful gingerbread themed décor accents. It is suggested to come as a pair to complete the projects in the 1.25 hours allotted. If only one person comes, staff may assist with the second container. -
Saturday March 14, 1:00 p.m. We will offer an assortment of three wood/metal designs as the planter of this value-priced workshop. Petite, these planters are perfect to sit on indoor side tables or kitchen islands, transferring to outdoor use on a small patio table, if you wish, for warmer days. Spring plant choices to fill each pot will include pre-sprouted bulbs, such as tulips, mini daffodils and hyacinths, small houseplants, ferns, ivy and accents such as pussy willows and moss. With registration, one wood and metal planter is included in the price of this workshop. You will choose your planter shape upon arrival; there will be lots of each choice. If you wish to create additional planters, you may pay $30.00 per (all materials included) during the workshop session. As always, care, advice and education will be discussed as the group works alongside your host, Vikki and the Design Team. -

Spring Amaryllis Joy Workshop Saturday March 16th, 10:00 a.m. So this is new…waxed Amaryllis for Spring! In Spring coloured wax (pink, mauve, yellow) the pre-sprouted stem will open to a white or pink blooming Amarylis, usually within the month of being exposed to light and warmth. What a joy to watch Amaryllis blooms open in the Spring-time! The container for this design will be a 8” wicker “nest” and will include three foliage or blooming plants, along with your choice of high-value, pre-sprouted waxed Amaryllis. Decorative mosses (to nestle the waxed Amaryllis), pussy willows and curly willow and a cute bird will complete the project. This will be a beautiful, long-lasting arrangement for your kitchen island or table. To register for this Workshop, a $20.00 + HST non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot. Returning for 2024! You’ll make a hoop-la in your neighbourhood when you hang this unique Winter decoration. The large 36” black metal hoop has a middle hook to hang a 14" moss hanging basket that will be generously filled and designed with drapy mixed evergreens and pinecone accents. Choices to add a small embellishment to the top of the hoop will be offered: bows or elegant evergreens and accents. This is an indoor potted plant workshop for folks who value houseplants they can grow on after the holidays. In an 8” natural toned tin planter (with protective liner) participants will plant five seasonal bloomers. Choices will include: cyclamen, poinsettia, lemon cypress, lavender, rosemary, fluffy ferns, ivy, winter berry, calandivia and seasonal frosty fern. Accents to finish the project will be a wooden tree stake, a metal deer pick, birch and pine cones. Au Natural! -

A pretty 6” champagne coloured glass vessel will be the beautiful container for this tabletop boxwood tree. A basic tree shape will materialize as participants add green and variegated boxwood to the fresh floral foam base secured in the glass pot. Once “greened up”, pinecones and small accents will decorate the tree, to personalize it. We will include choices to make your tree natural or sparkly - or a combo of both styles! The overall height for this arrangement will be approximately 18” and it is a great option for someone who doesn't wish a large tree in house and needs just a small tabletop tree for the season. Watered well, this arrangement can last 6-8 weeks, looking fresh and lovely. -

Let’s keep it simple with a crisp pallet of white and green in this DIY Kit. The oval white tin pot is 12" in length, with a plastic liner; the instructions will guide you in adding in a block of fresh floral foam, mixed evergreens (pine, boxwood and BC cedar). The feature of this pretty indoor table arrangement will be the white-wash tree stake (echoing the tree on front of the pot), which you can add to the middle or side placement. Accents will include white faux berries and natural pinecones. The instructions will guide you on how to care for this arrangement so it lasts well into January. Close to the holiday you can add in some light fresh flowers (not included) if you wish to make it more floral for your entertaining needs. We will provide you suggestions and ways to do this. Sunday December 14, 1:00 p.m. We introduced this unique rectangular, metal container last year in green (to private sessions only) and this year we offer it in a rusty retro red and gold colour pallet. It is a beautiful container! Into the floral foam that sits firmly in the pot, participants will design with fresh mixed evergreens, including deluxe varieties like boxwood and arborvitae. In this informative seminar, you will listen and learn with Vikki and Jennifer, who are Master Gardener Certified. Details will focus on the varieties of trees and shrubs that need to be pruned (specifically varieties to prune in Spring), when to do so, and how to do so. A brief discussion on rose pruning will also be included. A hand-out will be provided; taking additional notes is recommended. After a discussion of basics, the group will walk from the seated area to a few locations in our Display Garden (just steps away) where Jennifer will demonstrate the actions of pruning on species currently growing and in need of Spring pruning. This will be your focal plant that will attract a lot of attention! A kid’s workshop for our friends aged 3-12. This year's ceramic planter has a colourful scene on it's exterior: foxes, birds and winter wildlife. It will be filled with snipets of mixed evergreens so it resembles a hideaway you’d happen upon deep in the forest. Dogwood, pinecones, light floral accents and a woodland animal friend will complete the project. This arrangement is to remain indoors and, by keeping the floral foam moist, will last over a month!
